A seamless connection links the original 1880 cottage with a new extension designed for contemporary living. The addition incorporates strong sustainable principles—high thermal mass, ideal northern orientation, and excellent insulation—creating a naturally comfortable environment year‑round. A 150 m² extension has been added to an historic villa in North Adelaide, creating a contemporary living environment that complements the original home. The project also includes a new master bedroom and bathroom. Beneath the extension, an undercroft provides secure parking for three cars, with a lift offering direct access to the modern upper level.

Cross-ventilation, high-level windows, and sliding doors harness sea breezes, reducing mechanical cooling needs. Shading devices and a veranda regulate solar exposure.
