Initial meetings are free of charge. During the meeting the design process will be explained. The site, its potential and desired home will be discussed.
How much does it cost to design a sustainable home?
It is impossible to say exactly how much the design fees will be because every job is different.
In the design process are 3 stages; Concept design, Design development (planning consent-Council) and Construction Plans (building rules consent-Council). The final stage “Tender & Advice during Construction” will be discussed with you after the design work has been completed.
To give you an indication of the fees the following is required for an average size home or extension (based on an hourly rate of $125-);
- Concept Design, 3D images, Sustainability & Energy: 30 hours ($3,750)
- Design Development, Planning Consent – Council: 30 hours ($3,750)
- Construction Plans, Building Consent – Council: 60 Hours ($7,500)
I collaborate with a team of builders and consultants including Energy Assessor, Engineer, and Certifier.
